The Barony of Delftwood in the Kingdom of Æthelmearc invites you to a free weekend of online virtual classes on the lives and times of the people who dwelt in the lands from Constantinople in the West to Heiankyō in the East. The University is focused from the beginning of recorded history to 1600 CE including: the T’ang Dynasty through the Ming Dynasty in China, the Nara Period through the Sengoku Period in Japan, the North South States Period through the Joseon Period in Korea, Medieval India, the Abbasid Caliphate, and Medieval Byzantium. Registration is ongoing throughout the event. Please click on Attend above to receive a link to the event.
Thank you for volunteering! Again, Our University Needs You! There are many different staff positions ranging from "cat herding" to "technology wrangling". We can't do this without you!
The event has been approved for the third weekend in October 2022. In North America this will be from Friday evening to Sunday evening Eastern Daylight Time. (EDT is UTC-4:00.) In the Eastern Pacific, this will be Friday Morning to Sunday Morning in the Eastern Pacific while in the Western Pacific this will be Saturday Morning to Monday Morning. Perhaps like the British Empire, "The Sun Never Sets of the SCA". The actual event schedule will be governed by the "best fit" for participants. This includes opportunities for relatively unstructured activities such as an online "bardic circles" and possibly an online "post revel".
The event will take place in a Zoom channel with multiple virtual "rooms". Each room will be staffed by a teaching/activity assistant who will manage questions, render assistance, and when necessary play "bouncer". (This is both a Kingdom requirement and a very good idea.) There will be a deputy steward for the event on duty whenever the channel is open. As zoom channels have a maximum lifetime of 24 hours, a deputy steward may periodically restart the channel and recreate the virtual rooms.
Due to the scope of this University, we are also recruiting volunteers to promote and manage this event both regionally across the Laurel Kingdoms and among the various Asiatic Interest Groups in the Society. There are many areas where we need support, more than can be enumerated in this already long note. If you think of anything else - there's space at the end of the survey to let us know about things we have missed while we can still do something about them.
Please complete the form below telling us about yourself and how you can help. The information collected today will be used to organize the event! Thanks again!
If you have any questions about the university please feel free to contact the steward team at stewards@daigaku-ryou.org. The official event announcement and detailed contact information are available at: https://aethelmearc.org/event/online-daigaku-ryo-pan-asia-university-2/.
